PAULA UPTON Administrative and Accounting Assistant
Mrs. Upton graduated from Texas State Technical College in 1993 with a degree in Information Management Technology. She immediately began work at Texas State Credit Company in Waco, Texas - corporate headquarters for over 45 pawnshops in five states. She was Department Manager in charge of bookkeeping, administrative and systems analyst personell.

Her skills were instrumental in financial reporting, supporting pawnshops' hardware and software needs, developing point-of-sale software programs, composing user manuals and streamlining pawnshop computerizations after acquisition. Her tenure lasted until late 1994 when she met her future husband, Chris Upton, a fellow co-worker.
In August of 1994, Mrs. Upton began her five-year career with national non-profit giant, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, in Waco, Texas. After a transfer to Houston and three promotions within MDA, she was ultimately Regional Administrative Assistant in charge of managing support staff and financial records for seven fundraising offices in a 35 county region. She enjoyed working with and raising funds for MDA's patients and volunteering at the many fundraising activities including the Annual Labor Day Telethon. In October 1999, Mrs. Upton resigned to move to Florida where her husband had accepted another job at a large pawnshop chain, Value Pawn, in Tampa. Two months later in December of 1999, she and Chris accepted an offer by Vertical Computer Systems, Inc. (VCS) to relocate to Fort Lauderdale to join the VCS team.
If you have ever spoken to her, you may already know she is the voice of Vertical Computer Systems' telephone answering system. She also assists part-time in coordinating CompuPawn's exhibits at conventions and tradeshows nationwide. Paula also assists with the day-to-day duties at the corporate office in various departments such as accounting, marketing, hardware/software problems, purchasing and customer service
